Happy National Gardening Week

Happy National Gardening Week

This nationwide celebration of all that's good about getting out into your back yard begins today and you'll find dozens of events to mark the occasion at allotments, gardens and community gardens near you.

This year the Royal Horticultural Society, which runs the event, is focussing on growing for wildlife, helping you find ways to attract pollinating insects, birds and butterflies into your garden. Look out for the 'Plants for Pollinators' bumblebee logo on plants in your favourite garden centre to fill your own garden with buzzing, fluttering life.

You'll find events at all the RHS gardens: learn how to plant wildflower meadows at Rosemoor in Devon, or have family fun making seed bombs at Harlow Carr in North Yorkshire. You can also learn how to keep bees at RHS Wisley, in Surrey, and enjoy the Spring Plant Fair at Hyde Hall in Essex.

And if you live in the capital, you can join thousands of volunteers across London to help spruce up the city's forgotten corners. The RHS, London in Bloom and the London Mayor's office are urging volunteers to get together and transform their neighbourhoods.
